About us

We built this for the people the system keeps forgetting.

Tens of millions of Americans buy their own health coverage without an HR department, a benefits portal, or anyone to call. That's who we work for.

Our story

An honest broker is harder to find than it should be.

Most people arrive here after the same experience. A renewal letter, a job change, or a birthday turns into an evening of comparison sites that want a phone number before they’ll show anything, followed by a week of calls from agents who bought that phone number.

Right Health Coverage was built to be the opposite of that. We’re an independent brokerage, which means we aren’t a captive agent for one carrier and we have no reason to steer you anywhere in particular. You tell a licensed advisor what you need, and they tell you what exists — including the options we don’t earn anything on.

What we actually do

We help individuals, families and small business owners compare private health plan structures — most commonly underwritten PPO coverage with nationwide networks — against the alternatives they already know about: the ACA marketplace, COBRA, short-term plans, health sharing arrangements, and HMOs.

Private plans have a real advantage for many healthy applicants: they’re available year-round rather than in a six-week window, and the networks tend to be broader. They also have real limits — they’re medically underwritten, so health history matters, and they’re not subsidized. We explain both sides before anyone applies.

What we don’t do

We don’t publish rates on a web page, because a number generated without knowing your state, age band and health history isn’t a rate — it’s bait. We don’t sell your information. We don’t claim to be affiliated with any government program. And we don’t promise savings we can’t verify for your specific situation.

A self-employed professional reviewing coverage options at home

Independent means no house plan.

We aren’t a carrier and we aren’t owned by one. Our advisors are licensed to present multiple plan structures and are obligated to act within the insurance regulations of your state.

How we operate

Four rules we don't bend for a commission.

They cost us business regularly. They're the reason people call us back a year later when something changes.

1

Say the true thing first

If a subsidy, Medicaid or an employer plan beats what we can write, that's the recommendation. We'd rather lose the sale than put someone in the wrong plan.

2

One advisor, not a bidding pool

Your details go to a single licensed advisor. We don't resell contact information, and you won't get twelve calls in an hour.

3

No manufactured urgency

No countdown timers, no "rates expire tonight", no guaranteed-acceptance claims. Coverage decisions are too consequential for that.

4

Plain English only

Deductible, coinsurance, out-of-pocket max, underwriting — explained in words a person can act on, before anything gets signed.

Fit, honestly assessed

Two lists. The second one is the reason to trust the first.

We only earn anything on the left-hand column. We still spend a real share of our calls sending people to the right-hand one.

Who we can help

People buying coverage without an employer standing behind it.

  • Self-employed people and 1099 contractors
  • Families buying coverage outside an employer
  • Small business owners and their teams
  • People who just lost or left employer coverage
  • Early retirees who aren't Medicare-eligible yet

When we’ll send you elsewhere

Five situations where the honest answer is a plan we don’t write.

  • Your income likely qualifies you for Medicaid
  • A premium tax credit makes a marketplace plan cheaper
  • Your employer's plan is already a good deal
  • You're Medicare-eligible and better served there
  • Your health history makes guaranteed-issue the safer route
A licensed advisor at their desk, ready to take a call

A real person, not an algorithm

A licensed advisor who actually picks up the phone.

Nothing on this site selects, prices, or binds coverage. You tell us what you’re looking for, a licensed advisor reviews it, and then a human being explains your real options — including the ones that don’t involve us.

  • Licensed in your state, not just somewhere
  • One point of contact from first call to enrollment
  • Plain-English answers on networks, deductibles and underwriting
  • No robocalls, no lead reselling, no pressure

Common situations

The conversations we have every single day.

The situations people bring us most often — and how a licensed advisor helped them sort through their options.

  • I was looking at $780 a month on the marketplace with a deductible I'd never hit. The advisor found a PPO that kept my doctor and cut that nearly in half — then told me exactly what it wouldn't cover.

    Marcus R.

    General contractor · Texas

  • What sold me was the part where he said I'd probably do better on my wife's employer plan. Nobody trying to sell me something says that. When that changed a year later, I called him back.

    Dana P.

    Freelance designer · Ohio

  • We left a job in March — nowhere near open enrollment. I assumed we were stuck with COBRA. One call and we had coverage starting the first of the next month.

    The Okafor family

Two adults, two kids · Georgia

  • I have a thyroid condition and expected to be turned away. Instead someone actually walked me through how underwriting looks at it. That honesty was worth more than the savings.

    Linda S.

    Early retiree · Arizona

  • I drive for two apps and my income moves every month. He asked about that before he showed me anything, and picked something I could still afford in a slow quarter.

    Terrell W.

    Rideshare driver · Nevada

  • Three contracts a year means three coverage gaps a year. Getting a plan that just stays put between assignments took one phone call instead of the annual scramble.

    Priya N.

Travel nurse · assignments in 4 states

  • Our income swings with the harvest, so subsidies are a guessing game. He ran both paths honestly and showed me where the private plan won and where it didn't.

    Wayne & Carol T.

    Row-crop farmers · Iowa

  • I own a two-chair salon. Nobody was going to write me a group plan. I got a straight answer about individual coverage in fifteen minutes, with no pitch attached.

    Alicia M.

    Salon owner · Florida

  • I retired at 61 and Medicare was four years out. The bridge plan he found kept my cardiologist in network, which was the only thing I actually cared about.

    Robert K.

    Retired at 61 · Pennsylvania

  • The first thing he did was check whether our kids qualified for CHIP. They did. He signed up only my husband and me. That's not how I expected that call to go.

    Sofia G.

    Restaurant manager · Illinois

  • I'd been putting it off for two years because I assumed it would take an afternoon of forms. The review was under thirty seconds and the call came the same day.

    Devon A.

    Freelance videographer · Colorado

  • My last plan was an HMO that stopped at the county line, which is useless when you work three counties over. Being able to say 'nationwide PPO' out loud was the whole point.

    Hector V.

    HVAC contractor · North Carolina
